Designing Your Future Smile

Your teeth are composed of two main parts: The crown is the part visible above the gum and the root is the part below the gum that holds your tooth firmly in your jawbone. If the crown of your tooth becomes weakened by decay or fractures, it can be restored and strengthened by an artificial crown. Artificial crowns are covers that fit over a damaged or badly stained tooth. They look natural and require only the same care necessary for your natural crowns. Talk to Dr. Steve Hartline today if you would like more information.
Silver fillings are composed of a mixture of metals, as for many years, silver amalgam has been the standard restorative choice for molar teeth. With the advent of modern technology, composites that match the shade of your tooth are now a great alternative. Composites offer strength, durability and give you a beautiful white smile! If you would like to replace your unsightly amalgam fillings, speak with a team member today!
Improve your quality of life, dramatically improve your chewing ability and regain your confidence in public with dental implants!
If you are looking for a way to replace a missing tooth that is most similar to your natural one, an implant may be the solution. Dental implants are small, sturdy, titanium posts that act as the root structure would for a natural tooth. A dental implant is placed into your upper or lower jaw bone. After the bone has grown around the implant, implants can hold a crown, bridge or over-denture just like roots hold natural teeth in place. Implants are very durable and can last a lifetime. They require the same maintenance as natural teeth; this includes brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups.

Dentures are artificial teeth set into a framework which rests on the gums. They are used to replace either a full or partial set of missing teeth. The plastic framework is customized to fit your mouth. Because changes in your mouth will occur, a denture will need to be checked and re-fitted periodically. Dentures play an important role in the maintenance of dental health. See us today for more information.

Laser Dentistry

One of the most important aspects of patient care is to identify and fill cavities. Decay can threaten the integrity of an entire tooth; early detection is the key to preventing a host of future problems. Traditionally, lengthy poking and prodding sessions have been uncomfortable, offering a success ratio of only 50% to 75%! Cavities can be difficult to detect, as mechanical exploratory methods are limited to finding only those cavities that are equal to or larger than the probe head. For your peace of mind and high-quality care, Dr. Steve Hartline has invested in the DIAGNOdent Laser, a revolutionary cavity detection system, offering unparalleled, early cavity detection!

Oral Hygiene

Dental Cleaning
Dental Cleaning means the professional cleaning you can only receive from a dentist or dental hygienist. A dental cleaning includes scaling, polishing and fluoride treatment. These three important steps are outlined in detail below.
Scaling is the removal of plaque and tartar from all tooth surfaces. Larger plaque and tartar deposits that have hardened on can take more time to remove. The amount of times you will need to return to your dentist depends on how widespread your case of periodontal or gum disease is. Localized cases can be treated in a single scaling session, while cases that spread throughout the mouth are often treated one half of the mouth at a time. Such cases then require several visits to Dr. Steve Hartline's office.
Polishing helps keep you teeth smooth and shiny. Prophylaxis paste (a special, gritty toothpaste-like material) is applied to your teeth, while a slow speed handpiece with a soft rubber attachment helps buff away rough edges. The purpose of scaling and polishing is to leave the surfaces of the teeth clean and smooth so that bacteria are unable to stick to them. With regular scaling and polishing, you have a better chance of keeping your teeth clean during your regular home care.
Fluoride Treatment
This is the final part of dental cleaning. The fluoride helps to strengthen the teeth since the acids from bacteria in dental tartar and plaque weaken the surfaces. It is best not to eat, drink or rinse for 30 minutes after the fluoride has been applied.

As we age, we expect our appearance to change. Teeth will darken, lips will sag, gums will recede and teeth may need to be replaced. Not anymore! You don’t have to have an aging smile.
In addition to preventing some of the effects of aging through excellent oral hygiene and frequent dental visits, we can even reverse some once they have occurred! Laminate veneers, tooth whitening and bonding are three easy, relatively inexpensive ways to regain the youthfulness of your smile. So don’t let an aging smile add unwanted years to your appearance.
